Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct deep-dive legal research using Westlaw and LexisNexis to build robust strategies for complex commercial disputes.
  • Draft, review, and refine pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests/responses, and commercial agreements with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Manage the filing and uploading of legal documents electronically via the New York State Courts Electronic Filing (NYSCEF) system.
  • Represent clients confidently in remote court appearances, depositions as needed.
  • Work closely with Mr. Shapiro to move cases forward independently from intake through resolution.

Interns at litigation practices in India are commonly involved in drafting, case research, and courtroom attendance. Exposure to tribunals like NCLT and DRT is particularly valuable for those pursuing insolvency or banking practice.

Eligibility

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law and in good standing with the New York State Bar (Admission to the New Jersey Bar is a strong plus).
  • 5+ years of dedicated experience in corporate law, commercial transactions, or business litigation.
  • Advanced proficiency with Westlaw, LexisNexis, and NYSCEF.
  • Comfort with remote collaboration tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, secure cloud storage) is required.
