About the Position

UPSC is inviting applications for the post of Assistant Legal Advisor (Vacancy No. 26060645213) in the Directorate of Enforcement, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance. The post is permanent, classified as General Central Service Group ‘A’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial, with a probation period of one year. Headquarters: Directorate of Enforcement, New Delhi, with All India Service Liability.

Role & Responsibilities

  • To advise on all matters referred by the various ministries/departments of the Government of India.
  • To look after government litigation work.
  • To appear in courts on behalf of the Central Government wherever required.
  • To perform administrative and other works as may be assigned.

Assistant Legal Advisers at the Directorate of Enforcement are involved in a wide range of activities, including advising on legal matters, handling government litigation, and representing the Central Government in courts. This role requires strong legal knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Eligibility

  • Degree in law from a recognised university or institute; And Three years of experience as an advocate at the bar, dealing with criminal laws or fiscal laws.
  • Master’s degree in law from a recognised university or institute and one year of experience as an advocate at the bar dealing with criminal laws or fiscal laws.

Stipend / Compensation

Level-11 in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission.
