About the Internship
RTA Law Chambers is inviting applications for its on-site internship program commencing from September 2025. This internship is a valuable opportunity for students of law to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and actual practice of law. Interns will get first-hand experience of working in a litigation chamber, interacting with clients, assisting in arbitration proceedings, and understanding the workflow of courts.
The chamber believes in providing meaningful tasks to interns rather than limiting them to clerical work. Each intern will be expected to contribute actively, whether in drafting, research, or assisting with hearings. This program is especially suited for law students who are determined to build a career in litigation, arbitration, and commercial dispute resolution.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfill the following requirements in order to apply for the internship at RTA Law Chambers:
- Enrollment in a recognized LL.B. program (either 3-year or 5-year).
- Students in their 3rd year or above of a 5-year integrated course, or 2nd year onwards of a 3-year LL.B. course, will be given preference.
- Strong interest in litigation, arbitration, and commercial laws.
- Proficiency in legal research, drafting, and interpretation of statutes.
- Professional attitude, punctuality, and willingness to commit to full-time office work.
Applicants who have prior exposure to moot courts, legal writing competitions, or internships in litigation and arbitration will be given preference, although such experience is not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
During the internship, selected candidates will have the following responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth legal research on issues relating to litigation, arbitration, and commercial laws.
- Assist in drafting various legal documents such as plaints, written statements, petitions, applications, arbitration pleadings, notices, and replies.
- Support the team in court proceedings, which includes attending hearings, preparing cause lists, and observing arguments made by senior advocates.
- Prepare case briefs, chronologies, and legal summaries for internal use and client meetings.
- Assist in arbitration cases by reviewing pleadings, preparing written submissions, and analyzing evidence.
- Coordinate in maintaining case files, preparing hearing briefs, and ensuring smooth office functioning.
- Contribute to client meetings by taking notes and assisting with preparation of presentations.
This range of tasks ensures that interns gain holistic exposure to both litigation practice and arbitration proceedings.
